Each month I'll pick an Indy book that made me say "WOW" and hype it until I can hype no more! This month it was hands down "Sequential Suicide" from 803 Studios

ABOUT 803 STUDIOS. INC.:

803 Studios began on a whim after Steven Prouse and Charlie Brown decided to self-publish a collection of four short stories from artists and creators in the South Carolina – Georgia region. “We saw a lot of talent sitting around us with no real outlet, and we decided to be that outlet… at least for one issue”. After a great response to our premiere issue 803, the Studio was born and a second issue was slated for 2005. We haven’t stopped since.  We have also turned our attention away from the typical comic book and have started developing professional and promotional graphic publications.  With our latest anthology, Sequential Suicide, slated to debut Mid-February at Megacon in Orlando, FL, we’re working hard to do our part to promote fresh talent.
803 Studios has expanded and is now offering design and printing services for business cards and logos, promotional material, and graphic publications for marketing and internal communications purposes.  For more information on what we have to offer, see our service listing.
803 Studios has expanded to eight members and is growing strong.  If you’re interested in submitting work to our studio, be sure to check out our submissions guidelines page.
Feel free to join the 803 Universe.  Check out our latest member roster.  See what’s new with the studio.  And join to see what all of the buzz is about.

Sequential Suicide THEME for 2008:

803 Studios is at it again! The second installment of our anthology Sequential Suicide is right around the corner
Sequential Suicide’s theme for 2008: SLOP.

54 year old Remus Filch lives on his Pig Farm 35 miles outside Charville, a northern mid-sized city. Everyone would have described him as a quiet simple man. Except for one thing; his fetish for prostitutes. Primarily his insatiable desire to murder them. His pigs love them too... as dinner. Remus disposes of the bodies like any good psychopath would, by chopping them to bits and feeding them to his animals.

Sequential Suicide Stories In addition to four studio stories by Steven Prouse, Anthony Hightower, Chuck Brown, Eraklis Petmezas, Rob Hicks, John Padding and Daniele Serra, Sequential Suicide: SLOP will be available for purchase early 2008, so be sure to check back regularly for where and how to pick up your copy!

My Take.

The great thing about this book is being able to see the different takes on a single storyline and how vast a bridge they can cross. The theme itself is out of this world and then to actually see it put to page is awesome. My favorite however was the first one

Sequential Suicide is 803 Studio’s replacement for the 803 Anthology. It’s a bit more of a challenge than the standard Anthology, but no less creative or fun.

Sequential Suicide is an annual collection of short stories centered on a single theme or idea. These stories can be of any genre and writing and art style. They can be abstract, funny, horrific, or action packed. But they must be for a general audience. No porn. It breaks our hearts as well, but we belief that comics are for everyone… including kids. Go figure. But we’re not going to cater to the lowest common denominator. We won’t rule out more adult themes and hinted nudity, but lets go light on the swear words and full frontal, okay?

Okay, so how do you submit for Sequential Suicide? Easy. Maybe not. This is designed to weed out those that don’t really want it. Writers, artists; collaborate! We want to see finished short stories centered on our theme of the year up to 8 pages in length. We know the nature of story, and if you need more pages, feel free to submit it, but it better be great. We can’t have one story dominating the book. This is an open field; an opportunity for everyone. We want to read your pages as you would like them printed. The deadline will be November 1 of every year for us to release early the next year. Accepted stories will be announced by mid-November in our News section and the book will be slated for release shortly after we receive print-ready files from each art team. To submit for Sequential Suicide, mail copies only of the final pages along with a Submissions Agreement to:
